The Friesian Lakes project has achieved a great deal in the field of infrastructure. Aqueducts have been built, channels deepened and bridges raised. Limitless sailing has great priority. The time has now come to make use of this infrastructure and to reinforce the Friesian economy.

Bottlenecks due to work in progress

The Frisian Lakes project is currently working on the following projects which may result in bottlenecks.

Reinforcement of Harbour dams in Stavoren

The Harbour dams around the entrance to the Johan Friso locks in Stavoren will be reinforced, for example with a thicker layer of tarmac, in the near future. Maintenance is also overdue on the harbour dams, and will be carried out at the same time. The work will be carried out in 2011 and will therefore not pose a problem for shipping in the coming water sports season. Click here or more information on Stavoren harbour dams and Stavoren locks.
