The Friesian Lakes project is a cooperative agreement of the Friesian municipalities, the Fryslân water board, De Marrekrite recreation company, and other branch and nature-based organisations of the province of Fryslân.
‘The Friesian Lakes project has helped us improve our product’
Jack van den Berg, director of De Marrekrite recreation company
“An important task of De Marrekrite is to ensure there are sufficient mooring places in the Friesian countryside. The co-operation with the Friesian Lakes project has not only helped provide more mooring facilities but also a sustainable quality improvement. This has enabled us to considerably improve our product.”
‘We look ahead together’
Tom Bleckman, owner of Camping It Wiid in Earnewâld
“I believe it important to stimulate even more nature based recreation. Our improvements are aimed at rendering the transition between the National Park and the campsite ‘ more natural and sustainable’. We look ahead, because today's tourist is not the same as tomorrow's tourist. I am delighted with the active and creative contribution made by the Friesian Lakes project and the other partners.”
‘
The Friesian Lakes are worth their weight in gold’
Jannewietske de Vries, member of the provincial executive for Fryslân
“Precisely in these difficult economic times, it is important to continue to invest in our greatest asset: the water. The Friesian Lakes are worth their weight in gold. The water offers us both challenging tasks and unique opportunities. We must undertake them with care. The economy of the water is a central issue for us, but that always goes hand-in-hand with sustainability and preservation of nature, as advocated by the Friesian Lakes project.”
